WOMEN’S GROUP

Knocknagoshel Women’s Group are holding our AGM on Wednesday 27th February @ 7:45 pm in the Knocknagoshel Community Centre. Our Group runs an Over 55’s Social Club on Wednesday and Saturday each week. We also run a mealson-wheels service four days per week. In addition, we also operate a wheelchair accessible community bus service as well as hosting many other social functions and services.

Our Group has operated out of the Community Centre in Knocknagoshel since 1994. A Board of Directors and a Management Committee of volunteers run our Group. Over the past 25 years the number of available volunteers has declined. This shortage has been supplemented by a team of highly qualified paid staff and by assistants on community employment schemes. Therefore, the requirement for volunteers to provide the services is not as critical today.

As a voluntary Group, however, the Management Committee and Board of Directors are required to be made up of volunteers. The pool of volunteers for these positions is depleted year on year. We would welcome anyone who has an hour to spare for committee duty 4 or 5 times during the year to come along to our AGM. If you would prefer to spend an hour helping in the Club every now and again we would love to have you. We guarantee you a warm welcome.

Becoming a volunteer is very beneficial both for the person volunteering and for the community. Participation in our community and the feeling of making a difference in other people’s lives is very enriching. Great friendships are formed. Make 2019 the year that you give an hour of your time to your community. Come along and see what goes on in our Group. We need you.
