KILLARNEY Celtic bowed out of the Munster Junior Cup in disappoint­ing fashion at Celtic Park on Sunday losing to Limerick side Ballynanty Rovers in a penalty shoot out. In a tense and tightly contested first half both sides had opportunit­ies to open their accounts but the sides went in scoreless at half time.

Second half exchanges again were very even but the deadlock was not broken after 90 minutes and the game went to extra time.

The result was unresolved after this also so it progressed to the dreaded penalty shoot out. In a tension charged atmosphere the visitors held their nerves best and won 4-2. THERE was no luck for Fenit Samphires either going down to Desmond League side Broadford United 3-1 after extra-time. The game was deadlocked 1-1 after 90 minutes with Ger McCarthy scoring the Fenit goal. However twO’unanswered goals in extra time won the game for the home side.
