Listowel students get great feel for KETB courses at a most informative open day
LISTOWEL students were among those to benefit from an exciting series of events by Kerry Education and Training Board (KETB) last week.
Coláiste na Ríochta was one of the schools to participate during the open week, and pictured with Kerry ETB instructor Danny Sparks on the right are students Lee Loughlin, Diarmuid McDonnell, and Edel Mulvihill. The trio got to grips with telecommunications technology under the watchful eye of Mr Sparks.
Among the events to take place during the week was last Tuesday’s launch of ‘ The Cloud Lab’ by Fexco Business Leader in Innovation Management Guillaume Py.
A ‘Build your Own PC’ mentored workshop was booked out as part of the launch, and a 12-month traineeship in ‘ The Cloud Lab’ and its cutting-edge technology will start this June. Applications are open on www. kerryetbtrainingcentre.ie.
On the same day, KETB also launched its 2019 prospectus, covering 80 programs. Among these is the new sales-focused Digital Marketing traineeship; a program in Software Development; and a new Wind Turbine Maintenance Technician apprenticeship.
Also on the schedule was the Kerry Preliminary Skills Competition for Beauty Therapy at the KETB Training Centre, while an apprenticeship open evening took place last Thursday, January 24.
Along with the aforementioned Listowel students, employers from groups such as the OPW, Liebherr, Enercon, TLI, the CDS Group and plenty more were also present for this apprenticeship evening.
The open week also featured a Kerry ETB and ETBI ‘Lessons Learned’ round-table discussion.
