COUNTRY STAR’S NEW LITTLE MIZZNESS VENTURE

ROBERT LAUNCHES SONG AND NEW BUSINESS Singer Mizzell builds a dream for the future as he launches Airbnb cabin for holiday breaks away from the bright lights

- BY EDDIE ROWLEY SONG: Release

COUNTRY music star Robert Mizzell has been juggling his hectic performing and recording career with a busy family life as the dad of two young children.

The Say You Love Me singer says he’s also now revelling in his new title as Grandad after his adult daughter Amy (30), from his first marriage, brought his granddaughter Lainey into the world last November.

GRANDCHILD

Robert, who has a daughter Maisie (nine) and son Leo (five) with his wife, Adele, says he feels “blessed” to be surrounded by little kids, and his grandchild is “the icing on the cake.”

The US-born entertainer from Shreveport, Louisiana, also tells how he’s planning for the future by launching a new Airbnb business, Little Rock Retreat, in a newly-built log cabin with a hot tub on the site of his rural home in Ballinagore, Co. Westmeath.

Robert, who made Ireland his home more than 30 years ago, is also tipped to have the biggest hit of his career with an original new song out tomorrow called It’s All About The GAA, featuring Irish singer Louise Morrissey.

“I felt I couldn’t sing the song myself because I’m not Irish and people would say, ‘what the hell does he know about the GAA?’, which isn’t a whole lot to be honest. But Louise is a good country woman from Tipperary and would have grown up with the GAA in her life.

“The song is written by Nuala Woods, who also wrote my hit Two Rooms and a Kitchen, and it captures what the GAA means to families and communities in this country. It’s out tomorrow on Facebook, iTunes and other platforms and we are going to do the video in Semple Stadium, Thurles. ”

Robert met his first Irishborn wife, Elaine, in America and followed her to Ireland when she returned home. The couple married and had their daughter, Amy, and, although the marriage didn’t work out, they remained friends and Robert has always been a part of Amy’s life.

PENSION

“Amy lives in Naas with her husband, Conor, and I was a regular visitor before they became parents – but now that they have Lainey I’m visiting them more often than I ever have before. Whatever about going to see Amy and Conor, the little baby draws you in even more. She’s a great addition to the family, the icing on the cake for me.”

Talking about his new Airbnb business, Robert (52) says: “As I’m getting older I’m wondering how far the music industry can take me. I’m self-employed so I’m setting this up as a kind of pension.

“I think there’s going to be a good demand for the business. The way the world works now, people are crying out for unique properties off the beaten track.

“One person on Facebook described it as Little House on the Prairie. It’s in the middle of the countryside in Ballinagore near Mullingar and at night-time all you can see is the stars. There are no traffic lights, no sirens going, no noise except the odd cow or horse.

“It’s ready now for bookings by email on the Little

Rock Retreat Facebook page.”
