WESTLIFE ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM

- By Alan Finn

WESTLIFE have announced plans for a new album and world tour.

The boy band – consisting of Sligo natives Shane Filan, Mark Feehily and Kian Egan along with Dublin man Nicky Byrne – made the announcement on Monday night, which began with news that they had parted company with EMI Records by mutual consent. The reasons for their departure were cited as “change of leadership” and “a breakdown in contractual negotiations”. They also expressed their gratitude to EMI Records for working with them as the record label for their comeback album, Spectrum, which went to the top of the Irish and British charts in 2019.

“This change now allows us to embark on a very exciting new chapter,” the band’s statement read as they revealed a new album will be released this year, eventually be followed by a world tour.

“The next 18 months is shaping up to be our biggest yet, including a groundbreaking global partnership which we will be announcing imminently. We can also reveal we have started to work on our brand new album due to release later this year. “Lastly, the most exciting part of all is that we get to see all of you again and it’s been a long time coming, as we embark on our biggest ever world tour.

“This will take us across five continents including a sold out Wembley Stadium and for the first time ever we will be bringing our live shows to America. “In the meantime, everybody stay safe and we’ll see you soon.”
