Bohs Long for proper decisions
KEITH LONG fears the game is in a ‘perilous situation’ because of how some rules are interpreted.
The Bohemians boss was reeling after the Gypsies lost the derby to Shamrock Rovers on a controversial penalty.
James Finnerty was sent off by Paul Mclaughlin in the 75th minute at Tallaght Stadium after brushing Danny Mandroiu. Graham Burke converted the spot kick for a 2-1 win in a thriller.
“I don’t think it’s a penalty and I don’t think it’s a red card,” fumed Long. “And not for the first time this season with that referee. It’s a bad decision and we’ve lost the game.
“We’ve Liam Burt going in on goal, yellow card. Georgie Kelly has a shot against the foot of the post the ref plays advantage.
“It would have been a penalty had he not played advantage. So surely there’s no advantage if we don’t take advantage. It’s double jeopardy there.
“I don’t know the rules anymore and the game is in a very perilous situation with certain rules and the interpretation of the rules.
“Apart from some critical moments I thought the referee had a decent game but we’ve got done and we’ve lost another game. We definitely deserved something.”
But Shamrock Rovers boss Stephen Bradley wasn’t complaining and claimed what goes around comes around.
Bradley said: “Right then and there I felt it was a penalty. We’ve had games here against Bohs when we’ve had players sent off for the ball hitting them in the head.”
But Bradley warned” “We were too open in transition. It was a good game between two good sides.”
