Nuno can now sign Francisco

WOLVES are hoping to take advantage of Barcelona’s financial problems.

The La Liga giants will have to offload players at the end of the season if they want to build a new team and also extend Lionel Messi’s contract.

Super-agent Jorge Mendes is working behind the scenes to set up a deal for Portuguese ace Francisco Trincao, who cost Barca almost £30million from Braga last summer.

The exciting winger, 21, shot to fame when he finished as top scorer to help Portugal win the 2018 European Under-19 Championships.

He has since gone on to become a full international and is starting to make a mark in Spain.

Trincao scored his first goal for Barca in February – in a 3-2 away win at Real Betis – then added two more the following week against Alaves.

In total, he has made 36 appearances in all competitions for the Catalan giants this season.

Despite that, Barca are willing to sell because they want to build a new team under coach Ronald Koeman now the presidential elections are over – and need cash to make it happen.

Trincao is well known to countryman Nuno Espirito Santo and reports in Spain suggest that providing the Wolves boss stays put, the transfer is almost certain.

Barca would prefer a cash sale of around £19m plus extras this summer.

But a one-year loan move – with Wolves paying 100 per cent of the player’s wages – is also a possibility, providing a £13m permanent deal is part of the agreement.
