Wallace: Dorrans a top signing

- BY CHRIS BEECH

Rangers v Motherwell Today, 1.30pm

LEE WALLACE did everything in his power to seal a deal for Graham Dorrans in Florida a year ago.

And after extensive signing talks along with Rangers sidekick Kenny Miller, the 30-year-old left the Sunshine State knowing the midfielder would walk to Govan to make it happen.

That’s why 12 months on the Ibrox skipper is delighted the kid he grew up with in Scotland’s youth set-up is finally home.

Ahead of today’s league opener at Motherwell, Wallace praised the £750,000 acquisition and said: “After the disappointment of the Scottish Cup Final defeat to Hibs last summer, a few of the families were in Florida on holiday. Myself, Kenny and Andy Halliday were there – and so was Graham.

“Even at that point he would have walked it to sign for us.

“It couldn’t quite happen then but thankfully it has happened this summer.

“That sums the boy up – he was just desperate to come back and play for his boyhood club.

“He wanted to represent Rangers, the side he has loved for so many years. He wants to feel like he has contributed to making the club successful and closing the gap on Celtic.

“It speaks volumes for Graham he’s here now – and he’s going to be a fantastic addition.

“It was great we happened to be on the same holiday that year.”
