DAUGHTER WINS U10 AT IRISH OPEN
WESTLIFE singer Nicky Byrne has shared his pride as his daughter Gia won her section in the Irish dancing championships.
She took first place in her age group at the Craobhacha Oscailte na hEireann which took place in Dublin over the weekend.
His daughter competed in her first Feis in 2022 - taking home two medals at the time - and has a major talent.
Posting to Instagram and bursting with pride, Nicky shared a photo of Gia standing on her winner’s platform.
She held her award as she took her place among the other winners.
Nicky wrote: “And congrats to our little Gia who won the under 10 Ullmhuchan award at the Irish Open 2024.”
He has three children with his wife Georgina Ahern Byrne.
They are parents to twin boys Jay and Rocco, who just celebrated their 17th birthdays last month, and little
Gia turned 10 in October.
He has always been very supportive and proud of his daughter’s achievements in dance.
Miss
In October 2022, when Nicky was away in Asia touring with Westlife, he had to miss out on one of her competitions. Not wanting to let her accolades go uncelebrated, he made sure she got a big congratulations from the Westlife fans. While performing in Indonesia, he videoed the moment the crowd congratulated Gia as they shone their phone flashlights at the stage.
The Prambanan Temple crowd chanted: “Well done Gia.”
He said at the time: “My daughter won first place in an Irish dancing competition today in Ireland. 12,500km away!”
Nicky said that he had to mark her achievement some how and thanked the crowd.
The family had a busy Bank Holiday weekend, as they celebrated Georgina’s 45th birthday. Both celebrated 20 years of marriage in 2023, had a relaxed date night.
The long-term loves went for a meal, and Nicky shared a snapshot on his social media. Captioning it, the singer wrote: “Happy Birthday G,” adding a series of heart emojis.
