MANY holidaymak­ers are looking for more eco-friendly modes of travel these days — with searches for this up 21 per cent in the past 12 months according to a new study.

Trains, in particular, are some of the most relaxing and immersive ways to enjoy incredible scenery while helping to minimise the effect on the environmen­t.

To help you hunt for the ultimate railway holiday, InsureMyTr­ip has crunched the numbers to reveal the greatest train trips in the world — analysing factors such as frequency of service, average rating, the number of national parks the train passes through, average
