Trump himself to testify before the special grand jury, and the former president has hired a criminal defence lawyer.

Last week, the FBI searched Mr Trump's Florida home over claims he took classified records from the White House to his Mar-a-Lago estate.

Mr Giuliani, who spread false claims of election fraud in Atlanta's Fulton County as he led electionchallenging efforts in Georgia, is to testify today before a special grand jury.

Mr Giuliani's lawyer declined to say whether he would answer questions.

Speaking on a New

York radio show on Monday, Mr Giuliani said he had been serving as Mr Trump's attorney in Georgia.

“You do this to a lawyer, we don't have America anymore,” he said.

DONALD Trump has claimed his passports were “stolen” in the FBI raid at Mar-a-Lago last week, which could mean he can't leave the country.

The former president moaned the FBI's operation was an “assault on a political opponent”.

Taking to his own Truth Social website on Monday, he wrote: “In the raid by the FBI or Mar-a-Lago, they stole my three Passports (one expired), along with everything else.

“This is an assault on a political opponent at a level never before seen in our country.”

It is not clear which passports were taken during the FBI search of his Florida property, but Trump is known to have a regular blue passport issued to US citizens and a red diplomatic one, which he would have received as president.

Trump is being investigated under America's espionage act, according to the warrant that led to his home being “raided”.

According to the document, agents were cleared to look at “all storage rooms” and rooms used by Trump and his staff in which boxes could be stored. ‘RAIDED’: Police car outside Mar-A-Lago home
