Fighter ranked world’s fastest earning athlete
IT takes Conor Mcgregor just seven seconds to earn €1million – making him the fastest earning athlete in the world, according to new data.
Sports betting community platform OLBG has looked at the highest paid sports stars, analysing the total time spent in the ring or on the field with their wage earnings to reveal who makes most per minute.
After crunching the numbers the platform found that the Dublin-born fighter has come out on top – earning €7,712,865.23 for every minute he spends in the octagon.
Mexican professional boxer Canelo Alvarez was in second place, taking two minutes and 15 seconds to earn €1million, and earning €394,075.34 per minute in the process.
American football player Dak Prescott is in third place, taking three minutes and five seconds to earn €1million, which translates into €288,209.55 for every minute in action.
The study took the on-field earnings of 100 sports stars named in Forbes’ 2021 list of Highest-paid Athletes, but chose to focus only on athletes from American football, basketball, association football, boxing and Mixed Martial Arts.

The main findings showed that boxing and MMA were the best paying sports per minute, with the athletes earning the highest amounts in the shortest period of time.
The top fighters were revealed to have been paid a total of €47.9million for only 75 minutes actually in action.
But even though boxing and MMA had the highest earnings per minute, American football was the sport found to have the highest overall on-field earnings of €667million.
The game has eight of the 10 highest sports earners with Dak Prescott emerging as top dog with a total of €81.2million.
Brazilian striker Neymar was found to be the soccer player earning the highest amount of money in the shortest time, taking just over 30 minutes to earn €1million.
He was followed closely by Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo who also needed less than an hour to make a million – 43 minutes and 53 minutes respectively.
The 10 highest earning on-field athletes all take less than 25 minutes to make €1million.
