Mum’s terror as tot chokes on crisp during flight
A MUM has told how Aer Lingus cabin crew helped save her child from choking to death on a Pringle during a flight.
Little Miley Rose Spillane turned blue after the crisp got wedged in her throat on the Dublin to Turkey route.
Passengers screamed in panic as horrified mum Lisa Murray tried the Heimlich manouvre on the two-yearold, who was close to losing consciousness.
Thankfully, Miley managed to cough up the crisp – and Lisa praised stewardess Chloe Stapleton Moore, who helped calm the little girl and the passengers during the terrifying ordeal.
Lisa, from Cork, said on Facebook: “From the bottom of my heart I want to thank Aer Lingus staff and customer service, especially this girl Chloe. Tonight I witnessed my child’s life nearly taken from her. She nearly choked to death on the plane, she turned blue choking on a Pringle.
“It got lodged in her throat and she was choking – she was practically losing consciousness but she managed to get it up, thank God.
“I was panicking and screaming, ‘She’s choking’ and the whole plane was in a panic.
“I got the fright of my life and I’m still shaking. I’m just thankful she’s here in my arms now next to me and we can enjoy our holidays.”
Lisa was bringing her daughter on her first holiday to Izmir. The plane left Dublin Airport at 3.30pm on Saturday and was about two hours into the journey.
She said: “Chloe calmed the whole plane down and took Miley Rose under her wing as if she was one of her own.
“She was so professional, making everyone comfortable and able to enjoy their flight.”
Speaking to the Irish Mirror, Lisa added Chloe was a “life saver” and she plans on treating her to a gift to say thanks.
She said: “The whole plane was in a panic. There was people running out of their seats screaming. Chloe took her and calmed everyone down. Chloe had her walking up and down the plane, playing around and minding her.
“I would have died if she hadn’t been on that plane. It was a happy ending though thankfully and now she’s able to enjoy her first holiday.”
The Irish Mirror has contacted Aer Lingus for comment.
