(0) 0 WREXHAM manager Bryan Hughes praised his side’s focus, commitment and desire after they beat CHESTERFIELD 1-0 and said: “Let’s see how far it can take us.”

The National League leaders travel to thirdplaced LEYTON ORIENT on Saturday, whose 2-1 win at HAVANT & WATERLOOVILLE leaves them five points behind the Welsh club with two games in hand.

Akil Wright scored the only goal 62 minutes into a tense game against the Spireites.

So the Dragons go to east London unbeaten under new boss Hughes (above), who has four wins and a draw since taking charge on February 8.

“I couldn’t have dreamt of a better start,” he said.

“But it’s not about me, I said that from day one. It’s about trying our best to make this club successful and it is the players that are going to do that.

“So far they’re doing it. Now it’s about taking every game as it comes. We’ve Leyton Orient next week, and we’ll go there and hopefully get the right result.

“We knew it was going to be difficult against a Chesterfield team in really good form,” added Hughes. “So it’s a massive victory.

“It wasn’t a very entertaining game, but we did what we had to do and when that moment of quality came, we took our chance.

“It’s about keeping the focus, keeping that commitment and desire because they’ve all got it in abundance. Let’s see how far it can take us.”

Jermaine Hylton’s hat-trick helped SOLIHULL MOORS stay second with a 5-0 thrashing of MAIDSTONE.

And fifth-placed SALFORD CITY ended a run of three league defeats,

Carl Piergianni scoring the only goal of the game at EBBSFLEET.
