Roxanne: I’m sorry for the trouble I’ve caused
Roxanne on Vine show SOAP star Roxanne Pallett has issued an apology to Ryan Thomas for claiming he punched her in the Celebrity Big Brother house.
The ex-emmerdale actress said she has now seen footage of what happened and accepted she “really got it wrong”.
Roxanne, 35, was condemned by viewers for alleging former Corrie star Ryan, 34, deliberately punched her several times “like a boxer” during the reality show.
In her first interview since leaving the Celebrity Big Brother house, she said: “I massively apologise to Ryan… and every single person who watched that and… saw an over-reaction to what wasn’t a malicious act.
“Because I am sensitive and I was emotional, I mistook what was playful… It was the word ‘deliberate’ I regret.”
When told by Jeremy Vine on his Channel 5 show that Ryan’s career could have been ended by her claims if the incident had not been caught on camera, Roxanne said: “He couldn’t disprove his intention and I couldn’t disprove or prove a feeling.”
Speaking about the possibility her allegations had trivialised abuse, she said: “I’ve actually been a victim of domestic violence years ago… “I’d be mortified to think even one person felt I had discredited or undermined abuse.” Referring to former co-stars accusing her of fabricating stories, she said: “We all make… enemies along the way.” Her claims left Ryan in tears. He said it had been harmless play fighting.
