SILE Seoige has revealed how sometimes she can “barely remember” cancer was a part of her life.

The 39-year-old TV presenter was diagnosed with the disease in 2011 and had surgery to remove her thyroid.

Last year Sile was given the official all-clear from doctors, five years after beating the condition, and the mum of one said her battle is a distant memory.

When asked how her health is after the cancer, Sile replied: “Really good – not a bother. It’s weird, sometimes it feels like it never happened.

“It’s one of those situations that when you’re experiencing it, it feels like you can’t think of anything else.

“But now, when I look back, I’m going, ‘God, I can barely remember it was a part of my life’.” The brunette, who is mum to 10-month-old son Cathal, admitted her health struggle has given her a different outlook on life.

She said: “I’ve probably learned a lot about myself in recent years, from being through illness and a number of other things that have happened to me.

“I don’t sweat the small stuff anymore – there’s no point.”

In April, Galway star Sile took to social media to announce she had got engaged to long-term boyfriend Damien O’farrell.

The garda popped the question with an engagement ring designed specially for his fiancee by her broadcaster sister Grainne, who now runs a diamond business in South Africa. Speaking to the Sunday World Magazine, Sile said she won’t be rushing into planning her big day any time soon.

She added: “Not yet! We’re just happy. I didn’t expect it to happen.

“But there’s been no wedding planning or trying on dresses.

“Right now, I can’t see it in the immediate future.

“The priority is being parents and enjoying our little man.

“If that [wedding] comes down the line, brilliant, but it’s not something I feel needs to happen right now. At the moment we’re just enjoying it.” With her fiance Damien O’farrell really
