ST PATRICK’S DAY FESTIVITIES
A little bit of irish in half of us people Mini Beast to bring more sleet & snow
HALF of Americans have Irish DNA, a family history company has discovered.
To mark St Patrick’s day, Ancestry.ie has been looking into its seven million strong network.
The research has revealed “Irishness” stretches far beyond our island, with more than 50% of the Ancestry DNA network having at least some Irish DNA.
More than 33 million US residents claim Irish ancestry, more than seven times the population of the Republic.
And seven million people who used the Ancestry DNA kit found out they had at least a little Irish in them.
Ancestry’s Russell James said: “For such a small island we were blown away by the results, which found so many in our network of over seven million people have some Irish DNA ranging from 1% to 100%.”
