Louise is back, and this time it’s ‘deeply personal’

-

SHE’S been working hard on her comeback since re-emerging into the spotlight in 2016’s Strictly Come Dancing – but this time it’s ‘deeply personal’ as Louise Redknapp shares lyrics from her new song, Small Talk, about her split from ex-husband Jamie.

Louise, 44, pictured, and Jamie were married for 19 years before their December 2017 divorce but remain on good terms and jointly parent their sons Charlie, 14, and Beau, 10.

Only recently, Louise called the former footballer, 45, her ‘best friend’ and confessed that she still finds it tough dealing with their split. And her new lyrics reflect that when she sings: ‘We used to be in love, we used to be inseparable.

‘Now it’s a little awkward, it’s like we’ve never met before.

‘It’s almost like we’re strangers, remember when we had it all?

‘We used to dream big... now it’s just small talk.’

The song, due out tomorrow, was written with the support of Iain James who has worked with the likes of Emeli Sandé, Little Mix and Olly Murs. Louise said: ‘Small Talk is a personal favourite of mine.’ She added: ‘I remember during the recording process thinking lyrically this song was really clever and also so relatable no matter who you are.’

Small Talk is just one of the singles on her first album in 18 years, Heavy Love, which will be released in October and features work from Clean Bandit, RAYE, Eg White, Sinead Harnett and Karen Poole.

Louise, who rose to fame in the girlband Eternal, in 1992, released the first single, called Stretch, from the album in March.
