Did f lying cars get an early launch?

- Mail Foreign Service

THE passengers in this car gave dangerous driving a whole new meaning yesterday after their car ended up hurtling through the air and ploughing into the second floor of an office.

Luckily, there was no-one in the office at the time of the California crash in the early hours of the morning, and miraculously, both of the people in the car survived.

Such was the impact of the collision in Santa Ana that a small fire was ignited.

While one of the passengers managed to clamber to safety, another was left dangling there for over an hour before they could be rescued by emergency services.

Los Angeles County Urban Search and Rescue was able to free the other individual in the vehicle, after the person was trapped for more than an hour inside the dangling car, Captain Stephen Horner of the Orange County Fire Authority told the Mail.

‘The vehicle hit the centre divider and went airborne and landed into the building,’ the OCFA said.

The crash caused a small fire at the point of impact on the second floor of the office.

‘The fire was quickly extinguished by the first arriving units,’ Captain Horner said.

Then the rescue team went to work, to get that other individual safely out of the vehicle.

‘They used a front loader from the city of Santa Ana to stablise the vehicle and the members of USAR were able to gain access and pull the victim out from the passenger side of the vehicle safety.’

The two individuals involved in the crash have yet to be identified. They were hospitalised with only minor injuries.
