What a sight! Posh in ‘skeletal’ model row
VICTORIA Beckham is under fire for using a ‘skeletal’ model to promote her glasses range.
The 43-year-old was criticised for sending a ‘dangerous and unrealistic’ message to young women by using a model with the waist size of a seven-yearold girl.
The designer shared a selection of images from her spring/ summer 2018 eyewear range on Instagram.
In the photographs, Lithuanian model Giedre Dukauskaite, 29, is shown looking thin in a baggy beige top and pink trousers.
Alongside the pictures, the former Spice Girl – whose glasses cost up to €900 – wrote: ‘Back to work! Start the year with new frames from the Spring Summer 2018 #VBEyewear collection inspired by 1970s retro classics and updated for a featherylight, fresh and modern look.’
However, outraged parents claimed that they didn’t even see the glasses because the model – who has a waist size of 24in – looked ‘sickly skinny’.
‘This image is exactly why my already tiny daughter thinks she needs to eat less,’ wrote one user. Another added: ‘[I] didn’t even notice the glasses. Beckham should be ashamed promoting eating disorders.’
Eating disorder charities previously criticised the designer for using stick-thin models at New York Fashion Week in 2015.
A representative for Mrs Beckham was contacted for comment, but had not responded at the time of going to print.
