A new insight into the land of cotton candy...

- BY JIM MURTY

OH, I wish I was in the land of cotton candy... that’s candy floss to most of us on this side of the pond. But it’s America where it originated 120 years ago when dentist William Morrison (obviously drumming up business for his day job) and confectioner John C. Wharton brought us the first machine-spun cotton candy before it went on to be showcased at the 1904 World’s Fair in St Louis.

So there I was twirling and spinning at the end of the night, which was nothing to do with the Pink Prosecco that had been flowing.

The reason? The launch of Insight Vacations’ 2018 USA and Canada Premium brochure at Residence in Dublin.

It’s Insight’s breadth and well... insight that marks it out.

Its Signature Experiences included on every tour allow guests to savour the essence of a region.

You want to see bears and bobcats? An expert naturalist is on hand in North Conway, New Hampshire.

Alaskan huskies are more your thing? Champion dog musher and four-time Iditarod winner Martin Busher (no, me neither) will give you the lowdown and you’ll even get to meet the pooches.

Not glitzy enough for ya? Insight offers a private tour of the Dolby Theatre, home of the Oscars.

The names of the itineraries transport you in your mind to exotic places, Enchanting Canyonlands, America’s Magnificent National Parks, New England’s Fall Foliage, Canadian Rockies and Pacific Coast, Jewels of Alaska.

Insight will transport you in person. See www.insightvacations. com. (01) 775 3838.

It also has Luxury Gold packages that include Canada, Eastern USA, Hawaii, Latin America and Southern USA.

Oh, I wish I was in the land of cotton candy... look away, I’ve only gone and got some stuck to my cotton candy beard!
