You’re turning viewers off, Amanda
Parents and fans complain over her ‘inappropriate’ BGT outfit
THE risqué, low-cut dress Amanda Holden wore on Britain’s Got Talent on Thursday was labelled ‘totally inappropriate’ and compared to a stripper’s outfit.
And viewers were so shocked by the backless and buttock-skimming creation that more than 200 lodged official complaints.
The 46-year-old judge appeared on Britain’s Got Talent wearing the plunging floor-length €12,500 Julien Macdonald dress which was slashed to the navel, with a cut-out panel that reached down to the small of her back.
British regulator Ofcom said it has received 216 complaints about the dress and may investigate. A spokesman added: ‘We will assess these complaints before deciding whether or not to investigate.’
Before the semi-final, the mother-of-two admitted she was seeking complaints as she joked: ‘Will people be complaining to Ofcom? I hope so, I really do.’
The judge’s outfit choices have turned viewers’ heads during semi-finals week and Thursday evening’s frock was no

exception. Viewers took to Twitter to express their disgust.
One tweeted: ‘So Amanda is effectively topless on Britain’s Got Talent.’
Another added: ‘What the hell is Amanda wearing on BGT, totally NOT suitable.’ And one wrote: ‘Does Amanda Holden know this is a family show and she doesn’t need to dress like a stripper #BGT.’
At one point, co-host Ant McPartlin remarked: ‘Look at what Amanda’s wearing . . . what Amanda isn’t wearing!’
Her fellow judge David Walliams also had a dig when female Welsh choir Angelicus Celtis were criticised for their middle-ofthe-road look, saying: ‘None of you are wearing a really inappropriate low-cut top.’
BGT contestants know that to garner votes they have to have an interesting backstory and claim to have been ‘on a journey’. Well Holden has certainly been on a fashion journey since the show started in 2007.
Back then she was more conservative and covered up. But as the show grew in popularity so her outfits grew ever more daring. Her other choices this week have included a see-through skirt.
Last year Ofcom decided not to investigate the ITV show after outfits worn by Holden and fellow judge Alesha Dixon sparked 90 complaints from viewers.
Holden told The Sun on Sunday last weekend: ‘I can’t wait to wear my dresses. They are very flattering, very feminine and a few are . . . what you would expect.
‘Will people be complaining to Ofcom? I hope so, I really do. I haven’t done my job if they aren’t.’
