REMEMBER when popcorn was solely for the cinema? Sweet or salty mountains of the stuff were scooped into cartons to plough your way through during a film. It was almost as much of a treat as the movie itself.

Times have changed and popcorn has since been reinvented as a healthy gourmet snack. A mindboggli­ng array of flavours have usurped the humble sweet or salty tastes of yore, and such is its popularity that popcorn is as ubiquitous as crisps or peanuts.

If you haven’t quite found a flavour that does it for you, now is your chance to help Propercorn find a new addition to its collection of top-quality GM-free butterfly corn. The award-winning snack maker has launched a ‘crowd-seasoning’ campaign in a bid to find the perfect flavour combinatio­n. All you have to do is go to instituteo­fflavour.com and explore Propercorn’s virtual flavour factory. As you follow the step-by-step process to create your signature flavour, you’ll soon realise the seasoning process is not as simple as you think. Brussels sprout and bread sauce flavour, anyone? Or perhaps green tea or gherkin, melon or mojito?

Entries will be judged at the end of July, when one talented tastemaker will see their limited edition flavour in shops and receive a lifetime supply of popcorn.
