THE PROPOSAL

-

JUST days after his divorce was finalised, Storm whisked Ronan away for a romantic break. ‘After working his little butt off for the last year I decided to treat my man to a well deserved holiday in Thailand,’ she tweeted, being sure to praise airline Etihad and to post pictures of their plush surrounds on board (the couple are forever plugging brands and services on their myriad social media platforms). It was on this holiday while watching the sunrise that Ronan proposed — for the first time.

‘The sky was a pink-orange colour and the sun was rising just over the hill,’ he said. ‘It took our breath away. It was perfect… I had this little bag with me, with the ring inside, and I thought: “Now’s the time to ask her.”

‘It was such a perfect moment but she kept ruining it as she had no idea I was trying to propose. I started to say some romantic things I wanted to say but she was only half paying attention and kept talking back, like we were having a conversation. She had no idea what was going on.

‘So I took the ring out and got down on one knee — and that’s when she realised what was happening and the tears started falling down her face.’

Storm said she also fell to her knees and couldn’t stand up as she was so happy and emotional.

The ring is a one- of- a- kind oval diamond set in a diamond encrusted titanium band because, as Storm said, titanium lasts forever.

‘There isn’t another ring like it in the world,’ said Ronan, who helped design the band with award-winning couture jeweller Glenn Spiro, who is believed to have also made the wedding rings.

Proposal number two happened at a family bonfire in the West of Ireland. This time Ronan’s three children proposed with their dad.

‘We lit a bonfire on the hill and played mine and Storm’s song, Ed Sheeran’s Thinking Out Loud,’ said Ronan.

‘Storm was dancing round the fire with us, again oblivious to what was going on, then the four of us closed in on her and asked, “Will you marry us?”

‘We pulled the ring out again and she said yes. It was the most magical thing in the world. There were loads of hugs and tears all round.’
