Stick-on bra secret of the stars who dare to bare

- By Laura Cox

ONCE upon a time, wearing a barely- t here dress required the careful application of sticky tape and about as much confidence as a Hollywood actress.

Now the stars’ secret to pulling off glamorous styles while maintaining their modesty has been revealed – and it seems high street shoppers are starting to catching on.

Everyone from Gwyneth Paltrow to Emma Watson and Darcey Bussell are said to swear by the strapless InvisiBra, consisting of two cups which stick to the skin and are fastened with a clasp.

And while the most expensive model made from silicone isn’t cheap at over €50, high street versions are proving just as popular, with Debenhams seeing sales soar by 75 per cent.

Just this month Harry Potter actress Miss Watson attended the Golden Globes in a daring, backless Dior gown, and is thought to have worn an InvisiBra, or a similar brand, underneath.

And Oscar-winner Anne Hathaway is believed to have used a stick-on bra to pull off the draped white Givenchy gown she wore to the Les Miserables London premiere in 2012.

Lingerie company Lavalia said demand has soared since they launched the InvisiBra last summer. They reported a 30 per cent rise in sales from December to January, with 70 bras now sold every day.

A spokesman said: ‘January has been a fantastic month for InvisiBra. This could be because it is awards season and women have been l ooking for ways t o wear si milar dresses without risking their dignity.’

M&S has reported a rise in sales of its version, as has Debenhams, which also sells a similar model. A spokesman said: ‘Sales have surged by 75 per cent in recent weeks. Customers seem to be taking i nspiration f r om t he awards season.’
