THE MACALLAN REFLEXION

Bold and full bodied

-

prominent name of unrivalled craftsmanship and unparalleled quality since 1824, introduces The Macallan Reflexion as a reflection of first fill sherry seasoned oak casks. It is a part of The Macallan 1824 Masters Series –an exclusive luxury range within The Macallan portfolio that charts a path through the supreme quality of The Macallan’s unique sherry casks.

Reflexion matured predominately in the smaller Spanish and American 250 litre hogshead casks; then allowing for a greater surface area of wood to interact with the spirit, delivering more accentuated aromas and flavours. The depth of the colour and the complex flavour of Reflexion derive from the first fill casks selected by Bob Dalgarno, The Macallan Master Whisky Maker. Bold and full bodied, Reflexion is a celebration of floral and vanilla notes, punctuated with fresh apples and apricots.

“Wood sits at the very heart of what we do at The Macallan and this range further demonstrates the vital role of our casks in the production of these superb whiskies,” says The Macallan’s Master of Wood, Stuart MacPherson. “Our commitment to sherry seasoned oak casks is unquestionable and the Masters Series showcases The Macallan at its very best.”

The decanter of Reflexion is inspired and sculpted with the brand’s iconic triangular shape. It utilises six facets representing the six pillars which is the foundation stones of this supreme single malt Scotch whisky. Its exquisite angular facets reflect the light to showcase the deep red mahogany hue of the whisky.

The blood orange Reflexion has the aroma of orange and citrus fruits. There is also a slight waxy note which fades to fresh green apples, followed by the sweet stall: chocolate, thick fudge, boiled sweets, aniseed; caramel toffees almost overwhelm whilst white chocolate truffles are hidden. When it finally reaches the tongue, the taste of sweet oak arrives.

Reflexion’s palate has a light citrus zest with new oak which gives way to a juicier sweetness of lemon and orange. There are also subtle notes of raisin, sultana and apple, with a hint of cinnamon and ginger. Boiled sweets add balance to a glimpse of toasted oak to give a medium and soft finish.
