Former IPS officer, YSRCP turncoats on TDP’S first list

TDP CHIEF N Chandrabab­u Naidu Friday released his party’s first list with 13 names for LS seats in Andhra Pradesh, with the surprise inclusion of former Telangana-cadre IPS officer T Krishna Prasad as the nominee from Bapatla.

Prasad had joined the BJP in Telangana in July 2022, but had slowly begun to gravitate towards the TDP in recent weeks. TDP spoke sp er sonk pat tab hi ram said the allies agreed to field the 1986 batch IPS officer on the TDP symbol.“he is on our list now ,” he said.

The TDP is contesting in 17 LS seats from Andhra as part of the NDA, leaving other 8 of the total 25 seats in the state for its allies, the BJP and Janasena Party.

The names announced include 2 former YSRCP leaders, Lavi Sri Krishna Devarayulu and Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy. While Vamireddy is an ex-rajya Sabha MP, Devarayulu is the sitting Narasarape­t MP who resigned from the YSRCP and joined TDP. The TDP has fielded Devarayulu from Narasarape­t.

Soon after his retirement, Prasad had indicated his leanings towards thebjp with praise for pm Narendra Modi. The TDP nominated Kesineni Shivanath from Vijayawada seat, currently held by his b roth erke sin en isri ni vas.wi th the YSRCP fielding Srinivas from Vijayawada, the seat is set to see a contest between two brothers.

From Guntur, the TDP has fielded local leader Pemmasani Chandrashe­kar. The seat is currently held by its leader Jayadev Gall a, who recently announced he wants to withdraw from politics. The party has retained sitting Srikakulam MP, Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, and renominate­d Mathukumil­li Bharat from Visakhapat­nam.
