Female unemployme­nt rate falls by 3 times in three years

BETWEEN 2020 and 2023, the female unemployme­nt rate in delhi has fallen from 6.4% to 2.2% — a drop of three times in as many years, according to the recent economic survey. This has occurred due to the urban unemployme­nt rate falling from 6.5% to 2.2% in the same period, the report further stated. significan­tly, this has come at a time when labor force participat­ionrates in women have margin ally risen.

Female labour force participat­ion rate is, however, stagnant—it has grown by a mere 0.6 percentage points in the last three years (from 10.7% to 11.3%). rural female labour force participat­ion, on the other hand, has fallen from 6.9% to 2.9% in the same period. this number is slightly less significan­t because Delhi is highly urban is ed and has only 3% of its population in rural areas. Another trend that stands out is the fall in Delhi's female unemployme­nt rate for women aged 15 to 29 years. While the female unemployme­nt rate has reduced and their labour force rate has gone up margin ally, men still dominate the workforce — they have a labor force participat­ion rate of 57.1% as of 2022-23, over 5 times greater.
