GroupI prelims exam conducted peacefully; 91,463 candidates appear
Of the 1,48,881 candidates who registered for the preliminary examination (screening test) of GroupI Services conducted by the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) on March 17 (Sunday), 91,463 (72.55%) of them appeared for the examination.
301 centres
In a statement, the Commission Secretary J. Pradeep Kumar said that the exam was held at 301 venues in 18 districts of Andhra Pradesh.
The NTR district saw 63.06% of the candidates in the morning session (PaperI), while 62.66% of them wrote PaperII in the afternoon session, said Collector S. Dilli Rao.
He attributed the peaceful conduct of the exams to the concerted efforts of the coordinating officials, custodians, route and liaison officers and others deployed at the centres.
Mr. Dilli Rao said seamless coordination between officials of Revenue, Police, Medical and Health, Electricity and Public Transport departments aided the smooth conduct.
Surprise visits
Joint Collector of NTR district P. Sampath Kumar made surprise visits to the exam centres at Bishop Azaraiah Junior College and Sri Durga Malleswara Siddhartha Mahila Kalasala in Vijayawada to ensure the peaceful conduct of the exam.
PaperI was conducted from 10 a.m. to 12 noon while PaperII was conducted from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
AP State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (APSCPCR) has directed the officials concerned to provide drinking water, ORS packets and other facilities at the 10th Class examination centres as temperatures are rising in the State.
The Commission said the teachers and school management should not pressure the children for ranks and grades.
SCPCR Chairman Kesali Appa Rao has appealed to the parents and teachers to create a conducive atmosphere for the students to appear for the examinations.
“The Education Department officials should arrange medical camps equipped with medicines, firstaid kits, and paramedical staff and ensure drinking water supply at all the examination centres,” Mr. Appa Rao said.

proper transportation, and the APTransco should ensure uninterrupted power supply to the 10th Class examination centres.
The Commission Chairman said that students are requested to reach the centres in advance and write the exams well without stress.
