- STAFF REPORTER

In the wake of the tragic accident in Kalyani Nagar claiming two lives, local authorities, including the police, municipal administration, and the State Excise Department, have initiated a series of stringent measures. Following a filed case against the Ballr Pub two days ago, the State Excise Department took action, leading to the immediate sealing of the establishment and the revocation of its permit room license due to non-compliance with regulations. This decisive action was carried out by the State Excise Department's A Division.

Subsequent investigations revealed further violations by Ballr Pub, prompting the District Collector to order strict enforcement. Under the guidance of Superintendent Charansingh Rajput, a team consisting of Inspector Vasant Kausadikar, Sub-Inspectors Rohit Mane and Virendra Chaudhary, along with police constables Shridhar Takalkar, Vikas Gholekar, Shivaji Shinde, Masalkar, and Pacharne, conducted a raid on Saturday night at 11pm.

The aftermath of the Kalyani Nagar accident has heightened vigilance among pub and bar owners, with strict surveillance maintained by the administration. Any violations are met with immediate revocation of licenses.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage across the city and state, with many Pune residents expressing concerns about the impact of pubs on the city's culture and their perceived influence on the youth. This has also spurred increased political activity surrounding the issue.

In response to the Kalyani Nagar accident, the State Excise Department's Pune Division has launched a comprehensive campaign involving 14 teams. This operation has resulted in actions against over 49 pubs and bars across the city and district, including filing cases and sealing establishments.
