We live near the bridge and there is an accident every second day. Two back-toback collisions took place on Monday. Earlier this month, a mini tempo had rammed into the wall of the bridge. After a brief spell of rain, the road surface gets oily and it becomes difficult for drivers to balance.

Due to poor quality of tar used in constructi­on, oil is oozing out from the asphalt. This is a serious threat to motorists. I have been using the flyover for my daily commute and one can easily feel the road is not constructe­d properly. It is uneven, due to which our vehicles jerk a lot,

The condition of the bridge reflects the shoddy work that is being carried out by the BMC. The civic body needs to initiate a thirdparty inquiry in this issue. If found guilty, the contractor­s must be blackliste­d and a criminal case must be lodged against them for using substandar­d material.

I have been using the bridge for commuting once or twice every week. There are sharp turnings and the road becomes very slippery after rains which causes severe threat to the motorists.

Sadly, that was my feeling when I first drove on it. It did not seem like a flyover that was recently built. Way too much wear and tear in the first few days of opening. Why are contractor­s allowed to get away with this?
