BJP seeks public inputs for MBMC budget
In an unique initiative, the BJP which rules the Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) will prepare its budget with inputs from citizens, taking into account their concerns while allocating funds.
The party has organized an interactive session at the amphitheater of Vardhaman Fantasy Park in Mira Road at 5 pm on Saturday where office-bearers led by Mayor Dimple Mehta and Standing Committee Chairman Dhruv Kishor Patil will lend an ear to the suggestions given by the citizens.
Noteworthy and essential inputs will be incorporated in the budget for 2018-19, which will be finalized in the general body meet this month. “Since the budget is made using public funds, we thought it was crucial to ensure public opinion is given due respect in the budget which is an important document that estimates income and expenditure directly relating to the financial health of the civic body,” said Dhruv Kishor Patil.
However, the opposition has termed the exercise as a stunt to garner cheap publicity.
Deprived of any big ideas or schemes for the twin-city, newly appointed commissioner BG Pawar has presented a Rs.1231 crore lackluster draft budget tagged with a pathetically meagre surplus of Rs.14.85 lakh to standing committee which will discuss the draft budget and place it before the general body for final approval.
