Shiv Sena out on the streets to protest against inflation

- STAFF REPORTER

Mocking the BJP-led government at the Centre for the rising prices of vegetables and essential commodities, irate Shiv Sena laid siege to the busy Dwarka chowk in Nashik on Saturday and staged a rasta roko. The rasta roko caused heavy traffic congestion and police had to intervene and remove the agitators.

Hundreds of Shiv Sainiks led by district president Vijay Karanjkar, MP Hemant Godse, MLA Yogesh Gholap, city president Ajay Boraste, block leader Vilas Shinde and corporators Raju Lawte and Pravin Tidme staged the rasta roko.

“What happened to your promise, the government is now hit by price rise. Price rise has affected Hindu, Muslim, Sikh and Christian people,” read the banners.

Holding banners and carrots, the Shiv Sainiks shouted slogans condemning the government. They said that the government had failed on all fronts and failed to fulfil the aspirations of the people, which had voted for BJP.

Sena City president Ajay Boraste said that the BJP had made ‘inflation and corruption’ as its main points during the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections.

“They promised ‘Acche Din’ and their slogans were “We have suffered under inflation, now vote for BJP”. The Prime Minister, BJP president and chief minister showered various promises on people. The people were fooled and gave a vast mandate to BJP. Now during the 3 years of governance at the Centre and at the State it has transpired that all those promises were false. Hence the Shiv Sainiks showed carrots and condemned the government,” he said.
