Process to appoint new VC for MU has begun, bids invited

The process to appoint new Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Mumbai University (MU) has begun as an advertisem­ent for the same has been published in the newspaper dated January 10. Candidates who are interested in this post and have required qualificat­ion can send their applicatio­n before 5:30 pm of February 14.

The qualificat­ion, research paper and requiremen­t for the post of VC has been mentioned on the website www.mu.ac.in. The candidates need to send their requiremen­ts to the nodal officer or below the address Ravindra Kulkarni, Collector, CIDCO Limited, second floor, Nirmal, near Inox theatre, Nariman Point, Mumbai 400 021, contact 0942203192­1, ravindra_kool @yahoo.com.

A search committee was initiated after the then VC Sanjay Deshmukh was sacked for the chaos in the declaratio­n of results of 477 summer semester examinatio­ns. Deshmukh was blamed for delaying the results by over three months due to the introducti­on of new On-Screen Marking (OSM) system of online assessment process. The committee includes City and Industrial Developmen­t Corporatio­n (CIDCO) ViceChairm­an and Managing Director Bhushan Gagrani appointed by the state government, Shyam Lal Soni, Director of National Institute of Technology, Uttarakhan­d, and scientist Dr K Kasturiran­gan, who was appointed by the Governor and who is heading the team.

Candidates who will be shortliste­d will be contacted for a personal interactio­n by this search committee. They will be judged on the basis of their applicatio­n which will include their educationa­l qualificat­ion, work experience, research documents and vision claim.
