Four members of a family have been arrested by Dindoshi police for selling drugs to small-time actors and college-goers in Malad and Goregaon areas of Mumbai.

During raids carried out at their residence in BMC Colony of Goregaon (East), the police have seized six types of drugs, including hasish, marijuana, meow meow and banned cough syrups, from their possession.

Those arrested include Vijay Shyam Parmar (27), his mother Geeta Parmar (47), wife Shalu Parmar (19) and sister Marta Raju Parmar (21). One accused managed to give police the slip.

The officer from Dindoshi PS said, “Vijay’s brother-inlaw Raju Parmar (20) is still absconding. They have been in this drug peddling business for the last three years.”

Vijay and Raju used to sell drugs to male members whereas Shalu and Marta were selling drugs to struggling models and actress in Goregaon’s film city. The ring leader of this racket was Geeta who always averted police plan to arrest them by making false allegations on police by tearing her own cloths.

The officer said Geeta had installed at least four Close Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras on the lane leading to her house in Santosh Nagar of Dindoshi.

“One member of the family always monitored the coverage of the CCTV cameras. Whenever police carried out raids at her house, Geeta would come in front, tear her own cloths and start shouting making allegations of molestation and assault. Meanwhile, rest of the members would get time to hide the drugs,” said the officer.

But this time, on Friday, the Dindoshi police carried out raid on Geeta’s house and arrested four people and recovered party drug meow meow (60 gm), hashish (135 gm), marijuana (40 gm), narcotic tablets (799), banned cough syrups from their possession.

They have been booked under relevant sections of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
