Bengal lockdown till June 30, but many curbs lifted

Mamata govt provides relaxation­s with restricted workforce in many sectors

Kolkata: The Mamata Banerjee government on Monday extended the lockdown in West Bengal till June 30. As per new rules, the private vehicles, cabs can only function for emergency or essential services. Government and private offices have been allowed to be open with 25% strength from June 16. Private and corporate offices can operate from 10 am to 4 pm. The markets and haats related to fruits, vegetables, meat and eggs can be run from 7 am to 11 am. The restaurant­s and bars can be open between 12pm and 8pm.

Continuing with the suspension­s on the state-run transport network and academic activities, the Mamata Banerjee government on Monday extended the lockdown in West Bengal for another two weeks till June 30.

It, however, eased the curbs at various levels in many sectors due a drop in daily Covid-19 cases and deaths in the last two weeks.

The chief minister informed that schools, colleges and educationa­l institutes, intra-state bus services, local train services, Metro services and ferry services would remain closed in addition to beauty parlours and

swimming pools for the public.

She elaborated that private vehicles, cabs can only function for emergency

or essential services. Among the relaxation­s, the government and private offices have been allowed to be open with 25 per cent strength from June 16. Private and corporate offices can operate from 10 am to 4 pm.

Markets and haats related to fruits, vegetables, meat and eggs can be run from 7 am to 11 am, while small and medium enterprise­s can be open from 11 am to 6 pm to help the public and trade. Restaurant­s and bars can be open between 12 pm and 8 pm with 50% seating capacity.

The state government mentioned that the retail shops in shopping malls and multi complexes will remain open during 11 am to 6 pm with 25 per centworkfo­rce and restricted entry of people up to 30 per cent at a time.

All other shops are allowed to open from 12 pm till 6 pm.
