Local boy makes good!
It was a Whatsapp profile picture which put Thiruveer on the road to success
People often get a chance to act in films after they’re spotted at some party, or their photographs draw attention. In Thiruveer’s case, the path to the silver screen was a little different. Director Jeevan Reddy saw his Whatsapp DP and called him for an audition.
“One of my friends gave me Jeevan Reddy’s number so that I could fix up a meeting with him. I couldn’t meet him, so I sent him a Whatsapp message. He saw my DP (profile picture) and after a few days, he gave me an opportunity to act in his George Reddy. I play Lalan Singh and everyone has applauded my performance,” says Thiruveer.
Hailing from Mamidially near Shaadnagar, Thiruveer has completed his MA in Theatre Arts. He has been living in the Old City since 2002. He has worked with actors like Thanikella Bharani, Rallapalli, Jayaprakash Reddy and others in Telugu theatre. “I played a negative role in Palasa 1987. The director offered me the role after he saw my performance in a play,” adds Thiruveer.
Director Naveen Medaram, a good friend, approached him to play the protagonist in the web series Sin. “I struggled initially, as the web series has a bit of adult content. It is not vulgar, but it needs some bold acting. I was shy and couldn’t do it in the first few days. The director and my co-stars helped and I motivated myself to complete the web series,” says Thiru.
Thiruveer has been conducting acting workshops, especially for children. “During the summer holidays, many orphanages want workshops for their children, so I take classes for them. Many schools approach me as well,” he adds. The actor says he has learnt a lot while working with children. “They ask so many questions when you say something. I too gained a lot from these interactions,” he says.
Asked what kind of role he is looking for in the future, he says “Whether it’s a small role or a big one, I want to justify it and make my mark.”
Because of the coronavirus lockdown, people are turning more to the small screen and many have watched his show. “I am getting a lot of messages and producers Allu Aravind garu and Sharath Marar appreciated my performance. They said I look natural on screen,” the actor says
