Despite promise, Kejri yet to address babus’ concerns

Silence prevails over dates for meeting with city govt officials

The trust deficit between the IAS officers and the Aam Aadmi Party ( AAP) government in the national capital seems to be growing as chief minister ( CM) Arvind Kejriwal has not yet announced or given hint as to when he would be meeting them to address their concerns of safety and dignity.

The four- month stalemate between the bureaucracy and the government had ended after the nineday dharna by Mr Kejriwal and his ministers at the L- G House, in which it was decided that a dialogue would be held between both the warring parties. The government is now functioning smoothly with officers discontinuing the alleged boycott of meetings with the ministers.

Mr Kejriwal, who returned on Saturday from Bengaluru where he had gone to attend a naturopathy course, attended an AAP convention on Sunday. He also attended the launch of the government’s unique happiness curriculum in government schools on Monday.

Deputy CM Manish Sisodia had urged the officers to meet him and sort out the differences, but the officers insisted on conducting a dialogue with the CM.

A senior IAS officer said that settling their issues is not on the CM’s priority list.

“We stepped back from our demand for an apology and settled for a dialogue. In a situation of lack of trust, it would become difficult to work with the political executives with a mind free of apprehensions and distrust,” an official said.

“We are yet to receive any communication from the CM or his office. It has been two weeks now and no communication has been made to date,” said a senior officer. The IAS fraternity has been continuing with their five- minute silent protest everyday even though they have ended their “partial strike” and have started attending meetings.
