Mr Johar on Tuesday made an appeal against stalling the release, saying he will not engage with talent from Pakistan in future. However, the Raj Thackeray-led MNS on Wednesday said reality has dawned late on Johar.

MNS cine wing head Amey Khopkar, after a meeting with senior party leaders and Mr Thackeray, said they were firm on opposing the release. “We will not allow the film to be screened in single screens and multiplexes. Reality has dawned late on the producer,” Mr Khopkar said.

He said protests will be held at all cinema halls across the city in the coming days.
