Guard killed after truck rams into AIIMS gate

A 23- year- old security guard died while another was critically injured after a speeding dumper rammed into a guard room at gate number 2 of AllIndia Institute of Medical Sciences ( AIIMS) in the early hours of Friday.

According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Sandeep and injured as Arjun ( 25). The deceased guards were on night shift when the mishap took place.

At about 5 am, the driver of a speeding dumper lost control of the vehicle outside gate number 2 and rammed into the guard room. “A part of the room fell on Sandeep’s head, leading to his death on the spot,” said the cops, adding, “Arjun, who was sitting beside him, suffered injuries and was rushed to the emergency.” He is now said to be out of danger.

The police added that the driver of the dumper escaped from the spot with the vehicle after the incident. Eyewitnesses have told the police that the registration number of the dumper was of Rajasthan. “We have sent teams to the state to trace the dumper and the Rajasthan police has also been informed about the incident and their assistance has been sought in identifying the vehicle.” The police said that a case under relevant sections has been registered at the Hauz Khas police station and further investigations are on.

In another incident, a man was killed after being hit by a speeding MCD dumper in Okhla area late on Friday night.
