5 rape 16- year- old; 3 accused, including 2 minors, arrested

One of the minors had allegedly gone to a park with the victim. He later invited the other accused who gangraped her at knife- point.

A 16- year- old girl was allegedly gang- raped at knife- point by five, including two juveniles, in east Delhi’s Madhu Vihar area on Wednesday evening.

According to the police, on the basis of the complaint made by the victim, a case of rape was registered at the Madhu Vihar police station and three accused, including the two juveniles, were arrested on Wednesday night. Two are still absconding who are believed to be 30- 35 years of age.

The police said that the victim, on Wednesday evening, had gone to meet one of his friends at a nearby DDA park. “While she was with his juvenile friend, another known friend appeared and within minutes three more reached the park,” said the police, adding: “As the victim smelled suspicion, she tried to leave but was not allowed. Instead, she was forcibly taken to a deserted bushy area near the Mandawali railway line.” When she resisted she was threatened with a knife. The police added that the five, including her friend, then took turns to rape the victim before escaping from the spot leaving her after threatenin­g her of dire consequenc­es.

The traumatise­d victim somehow reached managed to reach her house and narrated the ordeal to her family members who approached the police. The victim’s medical examinatio­n was conducted at the Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital which confirmed rape and the case under the appropriat­e sections of POCSO ( Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act, IPC and Arms Act was registered.

The victim stays with her family in Chander Vihar locality and is a Class 9 student at a local government school. Her father works as a salesman with a private firm.

Investigat­ing officials said that three accused, including the juveniles, have been arrested while the hunt for absconding two, who have been identified, is on. One of the apprehende­d accused has been identified as Anil Handa, 20.
