During lockdown, construction on sealed buildings resumed; GDA reseals them
NEW DELHI: The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has once again started their sealing drive to shut down sites of illegal construction in the city as officials here sealed nearly 50 residential and commercial units in the Shahibabad area on Thursday. Officials here said that all these properties had already been sealed by authorities but that the owners had illegally resumed construction during the lockdown. As per a senior GDA official, the developers of nearly 49 illegal constructions have unsealed their buildings and started construction work during the lockdown. “All these illegal constructions where the developers have been undergoing construction without getting proper map approval from authority and following proper building guidelines were sealed earlier. However, the developers stealthily started the construction work and these properties were highlighted during the audit conducted by the authority. There are 40 such buildings which have been sealed by the authority on Thursday,” said a senior GDA officer.
The officer further said that FIRS against nine other developers of illegal construction in the Shahibabad area have also been registered after it came to light that during the lockdown, they had unsealed their premises and started construction work illegally. “These buildings have again been sealed and FIRS have been registered against them,” the GDA officer added.
