NEW DELHI: A plumber along with his three friends has been arrested for the double murder of elderly sisters in Paschim Vihar. The police said that the plumber called for some work in the Anandvan society found the two sisters vulnerable and hence planned the murder and executed it with his friends. Bodies of the two sisters –78-year-old Usha Pathak and 75-year-old Asha Pathak– were found at their third-floor apartment in Outer Delhi on Thursday evening. Asha Pathak was working as a music teacher in Hapur school in UP while Usha Pathak was working as a librarian with Krishi Bhavan in Delhi. Both were retired and resided in the apartment for 35 years.

Things went wrong when Usha contacted one of her acquaintances for a plumber in the house. The man gave her the number of Akhilesh who resided in Nangloi. When the plumber reached their residence on October 23, he sensed that the two sisters stayed alone and soon planned a robbery. He then on the pretext of buying some material left in house and promised to come the next day. “He then met his friends Deepak, Ramdeen and Salman in Distt Park Paschim Vihar and shared the information with his friends and finalized their plan of looting the house and killing the old ladies. As per the plan, Akhilesh told his associates to enter the flat after his departure posing as electricians as the old ladies were in need of an electrician and he had promised them to send one known to him,” said DCP Outer Seju Kuruvilla.

Three men then dodged the security of the society and entered their apartment. The ladies let them in. Akhilesh waited outside along with one Raju and one more man. The trio inside then overpowered the old ladies and strangulated one and hit another with a blunt object. Both died on the spot. The men decamped with gold jewellery, antique silver utensils, and close to Rs 15,000.

The bare footprints on the floor also attracted police attention and they knew more than one men entered the premises. “We zeroed in on Akhilesh after scanning the mobile calls, we found them in the CCTV footage of the society and nearby and confronted Akhilesh. He confessed after initially trying to mislead us, we arrested Akhilesh, Deepak, Salman and Raju while two are still at large,” said Rajender Sagar, Additional DCP Outer.
