- RAHUL SINGH

GREATER NOIDA: A 47-year-old man reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan after brutally murdering his wife in Galaxy Vega residential society of Greater Noida West on Sunday night. Police said that the couple was found dead in their house on late Sunday night and the man had written in detail about the murder.

Girish Bhatnagar had been living with his 30-year-old second wife Manisha in flat number E-1802 in the society. The couple often quarrelled with each other over petty issues ever since they shifted to the society more than six months ago, said some residents of the society.

According to Superintendent of Police (rural) Ashish Shrivastava, the deceased’s brother alerted the police after he failed to reach his sister even after several calls on her mobile phone and also on the intercom.

“The woman’s brother tried calling his sister since evening but no one received the call. He suspected something fishy and alerted the police on late Sunday night. A team from Bisrakh police station along with her brother and the guards from the society reached the flat but found that it was locked from inside.

The police broke the door and found that the woman was lying dead in a pool of blood on the floor while her husband was found hanging from the ceiling fan in the drawing room of the house,” said Shrivastava.

The officer further said that the woman was brutally murdered with a blunt and heavy object and a suicide note was recovered from the spot in which the man had detailed about the murder.

“The woman was found murdered with a blunt object and her face was crushed with a heavy object. The police recovered a suicide note from the spot in which the accused had mentioned that he murdered his wife over family feud,” added Shrivastava.

The police said that the bodies of both the deceased persons were sent for postmortem and investigations are underway.
