To power fuel conservation awareness, ONGC holds cyclothons in six metros

-

NEW DELHI: Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has organised cyclothon in six metro cities to create awareness on fuel conservation as well as protection of environment. The cyclothons, organised in Dehradun, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Kolkata, Agartala and Chennai during November and December 2017, drew over 5000 participants from all walks of life.

In order to spread the message across the country about the importance of fuel conservation, ONGC has been actively participating in various initiatives including this cyclothon.

The genesis of organizing the cyclothons lies in Hon'ble Prime Minister's clarion call to people through ‘Mann Ki Baat' to voluntarily dispensing with the use of petrol & diesel for one day every week. The call was aimed at conserving fuels which is of utmost importance in nation building. The objective of promotion of cycling through this event is to instill socio-environmental consciousness and garner support for fuel saving.

ONGC, as a responsible corporate citizen, has partnered with Petroleum Conservation and Research Association (PCRA), under the aegis of Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas to organize cyclothons in six cities to give impetus to the Hon'ble Prime Minister's vision. More than 5000 people pledged their support to not use vehicle at least one day in a week and contribute to the larger mission of fuel conservation and environment protection.
