LG refutes allegations of ill-treatment to AAP MLAS

NEW DELHI: Refuting allegations of ill-treatment to the AAP MLAS during their protest at Lieutenant Governor's office, the later has completely denied any such practice. The L-G office has said that it is most unfortunate that Sarita Singh, one of the AAP MLAS, has chosen to be quite economical with truth as the facts are completely contrary.

“It is again clarified that Saurabh Bharadwaj had sought an appointment with L-G to discuss the matter of Mohalla Clinics at 2:30 pm and Bharadwaj was to be accompanied by four other MLAS in his delegation, which was confirmed by him. However, a delegation of nearly 45 MLAS headed by Saurabh Bharadwaj assembled in front of Raj Niwas that day without any previous notice and demanded to meet the L-G. Despite his scheduled Court Hearings at 3:00 pm, L-G cancelled the hearing to accommodate the MLAS and agreed to meet the entire delegation,” an official release issued by the L-G office said.

“The L-G met all the MLAS in the Conference Hall of Raj Niwas despite being told that the file has been returned to the Chief Minister on July 5, with a request to address the irregularities/deficiencies noticed in the setting up of the Mohalla Clinics, the MLAS continued to insist for approving the file, then and there only. L-G told them that, while he fully supported any initiative that strengthens the health service delivery mechanism to the residents of Delhi, decisions can be taken on file only after a proper proposal is submitted by the Health Minister,” it said.

“The MLAS continued to remain in the Conference Hall of Raj Niwas for seven hours insisting that they would leave only after a decision is taken. It may be appreciated that unauthorisedly camping in the office of a constitutional functionary is no way to resolve issues in a democratic system based on rule of law, added the release.
