PESB selects Gajendra Singh as GAIL director (marketing)

NEW DELHI: The Public Enterprise­s Selection Board (PESB) on Wednesday selected Gajendra Singh to be the new director (marketing) of national gas transmissi­on and marketing company, GAIL (India) Ltd. Singh is currently serving as GAIL’S Executive Director (Marketing). Singh, who started his profession­al life as a software engineer for processing and interpreti­ng of seismic data with Oil and Natural Gas Corporatio­n (ONGC) in 1985, has had one of the most illustriou­s career’s in the internatio­nal hydrocarbo­n sector.

He joined GAIL in 1986 when the gas industry in India was at still at nascent stage and has been involved in the execution of several of the company’s prestigiou­s projects, starting from the HVJ.

Singh has also held various leadership and strategic positions. Some of the key roles he has served in General Manager (Gas Sourcing and Gas Marketing), Executive Director (Operations & Maintenanc­e) his current assignment, Executive Director (Marketing).

As ED , he has been responsibl­e for fulfilling GAIL’S vision to source and market natural gas from internatio­nal and domestic sources, facilitati­ng maximum capacity utilisatio­n of pipeline infrastruc­ture, and investing in new pipelines. Singh has also been managing the company₹s top and bottom lines through various zonal offices located across the nation.

Earlier in the week, GAIL won a second extension for completing the Kochi- Bangalore-mangalore natural gas pipeline as it faces unpreceden­ted problems in getting land in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Oil regulator Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) last week gave GAIL four more years till February 2019 to complete the 1104-km Kochi-koottanadB­angalore-mangalore natural gas pipeline.
