Interesting things are happening: Amyra Dastur on her career
Amyra Dastur is happy with the way her career has shaped up post the debacle of her 2013 debut Issaq — she starred in Kung Fu Yoga in 2017, and then in Kaalakaandi and Rajma Chawal in 2018. In 2019, she is juggling three bigticket projects — Mental Hai Kya and Made in China (both opposite Rajkummar Rao) and Prasthaanam, starring Sanjay Dutt and Jackie Shroff.
“Interesting things are happening. I am happy that all of them are very different from one another. It’s wonderful to see how each one of them is unfolding.” a visibly ecstatic Amyra shares.
That Rajma Chawal did not get a theatrical release as planned earlier, didn’t affect the actor. “I watched it in MAMI film festival for the first time. Everybody was like ‘Dude, your hair and Hindi! This was what I was waiting for. I was happy it released, because actually it didn’t have that star power to make it a hit. There was the thing that through word of mouth, it would have done well, or it would have been lost on the Friday itself,” she says.
Amyra shares all the fun she had on the Prasthaanam set. “Jackie (Shroff) Da and Sanjay sir sitting and giving gaalis to each other. But when the director said action, we would burst out laughing! They are professionals, who would suddenly turn into scary politicians,” she says.
