‘Everyone has a personal food relationship’
Many of us think that eating healthy means consuming food that lacks taste, but Maria Goretti, popular VJ and host of various cooking shows, feels that healthy food is just as full of flavour.
She says, “There are people who are turning vegan and then there are those crazy for junk but what they really don’t know is Indian food such as masala dosa, idli samabar etc are nourishing and tasty options too. So, never indulge without putting your mind to what you are eating.”
She further comments, “While cooking, it’s what you do with food that makes it healthy or unhealthy — like pouring ghee on roti is healthy and so is adding the ghee tadka to your daal, but deep frying in ghee is a big no, no. Therefore, be a little smart about what you eat.” The actor says she prefers to bake dishes as compared to other methods of cooking because it helps control the amount of oil required to cook. In addition, she adds, “Everyone has a personal relationship with food. I love chocolates and I eat them daily but I make sure I exercise enough. But make sure you go for a medical checkup to determine where your body lacks and what it needs. Then figure out what suits your body and make changes in your lifestyle accordingly.”
When following a diet, she has a great tip, “If you’re changing your diet, consume what’s within the parameters of your household. Don’t follow a diet blindly that requires you to eat fancy superfood for a month and then you’re forced to go back to your normal diet.”
