Juhi Chawla is ensuring that her Diwali gifts to loved ones are 100% ecofriendly
Juhi Chawla has won several battles while spreading awareness for mobile radiation and has been successful in getting many mobile towers removed. Juhi has also been staunchly advocating going plastic-free. Other than that, through her initiative, Citizens For Tomorrow, she reaches out to people informing them about plastic pollution and its effect on our environment. Now this Diwali, apart from taking the eco-friendly route of plasticfree gifts, the actor has ensured that her packaging is also made of biodegradable items only.
A source says, “Juhi went ahead and started a campaign with a video urging people to have a plastic-free Diwali and also to share their photos using eco-friendly materials for packaging purposes. Her friends and family would receive a package of copper bottles with their names carved on them.”
When contacted, the Bol Radha Bol (1992) actor said, “Since last year, I’ve been very careful to use packaging that is plastic-free, basically gifts that don’t have plastic in them itself. We give dry fruits or dates, things which can be consumed or other items that would be useful to the person. Even packaging is very important. Last year, we used lovely jute bags, tassels wooden birds and miniatures that I bought from Gujarat. I request everyone reading this to please look into your packaging.
There are many options available, just look up the internet for DIY (do it yourself) ideas. This is the least you can do for the environment.”
